Shanxi province saw moderate growth in industrial output and fixed asset investment, alongside a steady push for economic transformation and enhanced market vitality, in the first four months as a result of having implemented a series of proactive macroeconomic policies.

During this period, the added value of industries above designated size increased by 5.5 percent year-on-year. Notably, the coalbed methane extraction and coking industries achieved double-digit growth, while sectors like non-ferrous metals, building materials, and chemical industries maintained stable growth.

Industrial upgrading showed promising trends, with new industrial drivers gaining strength – integrated circuit production surged 25.7-fold, industrial robots increased 6.6 times, new energy vehicles grew 93.2 percent, and photovoltaic cell production rose 34.3 percent.

Investment in key sectors intensified. Equipment and tool investment increased 3.6 percent, and infrastructure investment grew 11.2 percent in the first four months. Private investment also rose 4.4 percent year-on-year, with the number of legal entities above designated size expanding by 2.8 percent as of the end of April.

Public spending priorities reflected a sharper focus on health and social welfare. General public budget expenditures saw a 22.5 percent increase in health and wellness spending, while social security and employment expenditures grew 5.3 percent, achieving a robust employment situation.
