The "Shanxi Smart Agriculture Action Plan (2026–30)" was recently released, outlining a five-year strategy to establish a comprehensive smart agriculture technology application system across Shanxi province. The initiative aims to propel the high-quality development of modern agriculture in Shanxi.

To enhance public service capabilities, Shanxi plans to build an agricultural and rural big data platform and develop a unified land-use map. Additionally, the province will establish digital archives for arable land and implement an integrated "sky-earth" observation system. Smart agriculture models, such as breeding and disaster warning systems, will be developed and promoted, creating a closed-loop AI application in agriculture.

To boost grain production, the plan promotes "Beidou+" precision planting and smart water-fertilizer integration technologies, along with yield enhancement projects, aiming to advance the intelligent management of farmlands and orchards. Shanxi will also launch an "Artificial Intelligence+" initiative, encouraging cities and counties to develop unique real-world smart agriculture applications and foster smart farms.

To ensure the plan's implementation, a provincial work promotion mechanism will be established, with increased financial support. Efforts will be made to enhance the smart agriculture application skills of grassroots agricultural technicians and new business entities.

By the end of 2030, Shanxi aims to achieve widespread adoption of smart equipment and technological models, achieve real-world smart applications in key areas, and increase the agricultural production informatization rate to approximately 35 percent.
