As a specialty of Fanshi County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, Grid-shaped Cake is featured by golden color, mild cooking, uneven surfaces on both sides, and tastes crisp and sweet.

Grid-shaped Cake is named after its shape, and is also called seeds cake, which originated from the Ming Dynasty. It adopts white flour, oil, sugar, eggs and soda and other raw materials. The dough is rolled into thin pancakes with a diameter of about 16.7 cm to be baked in an iron pot. After putting a layer of sand into the iron pot, a layer of cake can be baked. The well-cooked grid-shaped cake is golden yellow, with round pits evenly covered on both surfaces, which look like a grid, and tastes sweet and crisp.
