The Main Hall of Nanchan Temple, rebuilt in the 3rd year of Jianzhong Period of the Tang Dynasty (AD 782), is the oldest extant wooden structure of the Tang Dynasty in China and is regarded as a national treasure. Nanchan Temple comprises six buildings, primarily including the Main Gate (Guanyin Hall), east and west side halls (Bodhisattva Hall and Dragon King Hall), and the Main Hall. Except for the Main Hall from the Tang Dynasty, both side halls date back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. 17 exquisite Buddha statues of the Tang Dynasty enshrined in the Main Hall, maintain their original look, making them masterpieces of Tang Dynasty sculpture. Furthermore, three stone lions and a stone pagoda are also from the Tang Dynasty and hold great historical and artistic significance.
